Ruggero Rosfer
Ruggero Rosfer was born in Milan and received his artistic education between art school and architecture studies at the Politecnico. His visual gaze, both precise and poetic, soon found in photography the ideal expressive medium. He moved to London, where he began an international journey that took him to film sets, portraying icons of world cinema, and later to China, where photography became a bridge between cultures. In Beijing, a new phase opened: he collaborated with Italian journalists, Chinese fashion magazines, and captured the Olympic athletes who became national symbols. During this time, a deep artistic partnership began with Chinese artist Shaokun, with whom he explored visual languages that blend photography and contemporary art.
India marked a human and creative turning point. Rosfer traveled across social castes, using his lens to tell the story of the country’s contradictions and hopes. From these experiences came an intense photographic project focused on the concept of dream and freedom, with families – whether noble or marginalized – as silent protagonists.
His next steps took him to Istanbul, Prague, and eventually back to Europe, where he successfully continued both his photographic activity and his work as a director of commercial spots. He created impactful social campaigns and collaborated with major beauty and fashion brands, always with a keen eye for visual identity, ethics, and elegance.
Among his most iconic works are campaigns against gender-based violence, collaborations with international agencies linked to human rights, and artistic projects inspired by rebirth, memory, and nature. In South Africa, one of his most profound works was born, dedicated to the protection of wildlife, and in particular elephants – powerful symbols of strength and fragility.
Rosfer continues to move naturally between different worlds: fashion and activism, beauty and commitment, art and communication. His gaze remains unmistakable, capable of portraying the human being with respect, sensitivity, and intensity.
